Heidi Siemes was born in 1974 in Arcen.
School wasn't her thing. She was always daydreaming and her fantasies filled the pages of her school notebooks with drawings.
She ended up at the Kasteeltuinen in Arcen where she worked for years as a zookeeper. Her heart is strongly connected with nature and the animals that live in it, which is always reflected in her work. Her travels around the world are also an important source of inspiration.

In the first years it was mainly dot painting paintings. This inspiration came from her tour of Australia in 96/97, where she came into contact with aboriginal art.
After the dot painting period, she looked for more of a challenge and started painting portraits, combined with botanical and decorative elements.

Heidi mainly works with acrylic paint, charcoal, pastels and acrylic markers, usually on canvas, sometimes on large plastic canvas.
Her use of color is exuberant with sometimes unusual combinations that, when the canvas is finished, ensure an overwhelmingly special and impressive work.
